Walking the Labyrinth

There is a Labyrinth in the cathedral in Chartres France. It is a marvelous place to do a walking meditation. There are other labyrinths in many places in the world. The one I went to today is a replica of the one in Chartres; it is located in Milton Delaware near Rehobeth Beach. It is on a pleasant lavender farm in the country. My wife, myself, and a dear friend went there on a bright Sunday afternoon. To my surprise we were the only ones there, I had expected some people to have the same idea since it was the first warm dry day in several weeks.

As I walked through the maze on the floor I became centered in the here and now. The only sound was the sound of the steps each of us made. As I entered the center of the maze I felt completely balanced and at peace. I felt transported to the cathedral in Chartres; it was a magical moment for me. I was seeing the cathedral as though I was there. I have seen many pictures of the cathedral and this may explain my vision of it. I felt the sensation of being inside when I was standing in the middle of a field in Delaware. I meditated in the center of the maze for a few minutes then started my trip back to the beginning of the maze walking slowly just enjoying the peace I felt.

When I got back to the beginning of the labyrinth I felt as though a weight had been lifted from my soul. I was free from some of the pain I carried for my past. For the first time in a long while I felt that things are going to work out. That was one of the gifts I received from my trip into the labyrinth.

In closing I would like to say that the trip into the maze was eye opening and a great pleasure for me. I encourage everyone to find a labyrinth near them and take a similar journey. It may help you find peace.

Peace and Joy to All

Religious intolerance "Islam is of the devil"

I have been following the Dove World Outreach story of Islam is of the Devil for a few day now. It is very funny and sad at the same time. The minister of Dove it seems may not have actually read the entire bible. I say this because if he had he would realize that the Muslim's Jews and Christians all pray to the same God. The God of Abraham. He had two sons Isaac and Ishmael. The Muslims are descended from Ishmael and the Jew from Isaac.
Who was the legitimate son of Abraham is a war that is still being fought to day. The minister of Dove World Outreach is bent on grandiose plans to be some great christian force in the world (See their about us page on the site) But I digress, the reason for this blog is to shine a little light on the subject of who is from the devil. No religion is without fault. All have committed autrosities in the name of god. Each have asked the "God question" and if you give the wrong answer you are killed or imprisoned. The "God question" is simple Do you believe in God? if yes, they ask you "Do you believe in my God? If you say no to either of these question it is perfectly acceptable to kill you since you are not of the correct faith.
We need to look beyond the superficial into the core of the matter, are you living a good life? Do you respect other people and their beliefs? If everyone became respectful of everyone else then there would be no need for the God question or any of these ridiculous religious wars. I am certain we can come up with some better reasons to kill each other. Lets not bring God into this.
For those who read this and think I am anti-religion you are probably right. More to the point I am anti-stupid blind adherence to doctrine that only serves to keep a minority of people in power of the majority.
All religions have a select few that are closer to God than the rest of us. So we are suppose to listen to them and do what they say because they are "Blessed by God" what ever that means. What is really happening is they are taking from you to build up them selves and line their pockets with your hard earned money. When was the last time you saw a priest in the fields working with his parishioners? But on Sunday he is asking you to give him 10% of what you earned. I have no bias against the Catholic church the Jews, Muslims, and Protestant churches also ask for donations to keep the house of God open and running.
I have gotten off topic a little, suffice to say that everyone should be free to practice the religion of their choice. Be it Christian, Muslim, Jew, or one of the Pagan religions that seem to pop up every other day. Leave God in your heart and do not push yours onto anyone else.
